New Hampshire power rankings 2

How about Clint Bowyer, eh? For someone who hadn't won a race in his NASCAR Nextel Cup career, the driver of the No. 07 Jack Daniel's Chevrolet certainly picked the perfect time to make history.
Not only did Bowyer get that first win, he propelled himself firmly into the conversation for who might win the 2007 Nextel Cup.
But did he make a similar move in the power rankings? Let's find out together.
Here are the latest power rankings after the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway.

1. Jimmie Johnson: Has company atop the leaderboard after finishing sixth.
2. Jeff Gordon: Drive for five certainly in high gear, as I called it on Devin Dixon's show Friday.
3. Tony Stewart: The guy will be a factor. Count on it.
4. Clint Bowyer: He finally got his first Nextel Cup win at the perfect time.
5. Kyle Busch: Hates the COT, but needs the five races to be a factor in the Chase.
6. Martin Truex, Jr.: Started outside Bowyer on front row, finished fifth. Won at Dover in June.
7. Matt Kenseth: Mr. Consistency came all the way from 30th to finish seventh.
8. Carl Edwards: Finished 12th, but lost four spots in standings.
9. Denny Hamlin: Finished 15th, didn't have the July mojo working.
10. Kevin Harvick: Finished 17th, but actually gained two spots. What's wrong with the math?
11. Jeff Burton: Defending champ at Dover from last fall. Finished 18th Sunday.
12. Kurt Busch: Biggest plunger in standings after a 25th-place run.

Dover fact: Truex, Jr. won on the Monster Mile in June for his first Nextel Cup victory. Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart will also renew acquaintances from their pit-road encounter that nearly cost Busch a spot in the Chase.
