Dover Power Rankings Redux

Couldn't believe the party that the Monster Mile threw for itself at Dover International Speedway on Sunday.
Its message was clear.
"I am what I am. If your cars, or your driving skill, can't handle me, well then, that's just too darn bad."
Carl Edwards handled the Monster Mile fine and dandy, winning for the third time this season on a day that saw the field flip itself upside down.
Did the power rankings do the same? Read on to find out.
Here are the latest power rankings after the Dodge Dealers 400 at Dover International Speedway.

1. Jimmie Johnson: Only two weeks into the Chase and the 48 is alive and well.
2. Tony Stewart: He was ninth on Sunday, but still a lap down like most of the field.
3. Jeff Gordon: Has the points lead by the barest of margins.
4. Carl Edwards: He'll be hurt by the post-race inspection penalty, but not that much.
5. Jeff Burton: From 36th to 7th. Not quite as good as last year, but still big.
6. Clint Bowyer: Talk about disaster averted: Last week's winner started 42nd, finished 12th.
7. Martin Truex, Jr.: June Dover winner finished ahead of Johnson, but didn't gain much in points.
8. Kyle Busch: Fifth of six cars on the lead lap.
9. Matt Kenseth: Monster Mile had the 17 for lunch on Sunday. Led the most laps, finished 35th.
10. Kevin Harvick: Teammates probably wondered where he was after 20th-place run.
11. Kurt Busch: Promise of late-season momentum slowly evaporating.
12. Denny Hamlin: Two words: Wha' happened?

Kansas track fact: In the three prior years of the Chase, non-Chasers have won twice, Joe Nemechek in 2004 and Tony Stewart in the fuel-mileage war last year.
