Know your NASCAR...please!

If there's one thing I admit to readily, it's that I'm a creature of habit. Once I get comfortable with something, it's usually easy to stick with it.
As I was driving home on Saturday night, I heard something that was as uncomfortable as a tooth extraction.
On the Sporting News network over XM Satellite Radio, the weekend overnight host, Tim Montemayor, spouted off on how he felt Toyota didn't belong in NASCAR. It's old news, but what exacerbated his opinion was that a Toyota (shame) won the Busch race on Saturday at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis.

Sports talk hosts have a right to their opinion, but Montemayor, on a NATIONAL radio show, blew it when he complained about Toyota being in NASCAR. Any credibility he may have had went down the toilet.
When he griped about how Toyota didn't belong in NASCAR, he identified the race winner from Saturday as DAVID Leffler.
You may insert the buzzer here now. (honk!) Any credibility Montemayor claimed he had on the subject of NASCAR (he admitted he was a fan) officially collapsed when he uttered that statement.
Memo to Monty...JASON LEFFLER won the Busch race on Saturday, NOT DAVID! (who he?)
Yet as the entire hour continued, there was no attempt to correct him. Montemayor didn't do it (God forbid a host admits he's wrong.) and his producer certainly didn't bother.
But the callers were distracted from that because they were too busy either supporting Montemayor (who claimed to be "Christian, conservative, and Republican") or deriding him.
I wanted to gag, it was so incredibly bad.
It's one thing to have an opinion. It's something entirely different when it's backed up with ignorance and a serious lack of intelligence on the subject matter.
Take a pass on Montemayor. When he can't get simple facts right, he's not worth the time to listen to, no matter what time of the day it is.
