Sonoma power rankings
For the first Nextel Cup road course race of 2007, Juan Pablo Montoya proved he was far from a fluke after his Busch Series victory on the Mexico City road course.
Montoya patiently waited out Jamie McMurray's fuel and held on for his first career victory in the Toyota/SaveMart 350 in Sonoma, Calif.
Here are the complete power rankings after Sonoma:
1. Jeff Gordon: Even with getting parked on Friday and starting from the back, he still finished 7th.
2. Denny Hamlin: 10th-place run kept him second in points.
3. Tony Stewart: Came in sixth; is sixth in points.
4. Jimmie Johnson: Friday penalty made him a non-factor. Finished 17th.
5. Clint Bowyer: Last of Childress team's 2-3-4 Sonoma finish.
6. Matt Kenseth: Never liked Infineon all that much.
7. Martin Truex, Jr.: Cooled off recent hot streak, but road courses tend to do that to drivers.
8. Kevin Harvick: Started 22nd in well-earned runner-up finish.
9. Carl Edwards: Fuel mileage bit last week's Michigan winner in the end.
10. Dale Earnhardt, Jr.: Had one of his better Sonoma runs (13th).
11. Jeff Burton: Moved up to fifth in points after third-place run.
12. Kyle Busch: Joined teammate Gordon in top 10 (8th).
On the way up: Juan Pablo Montoya (first win makes future bright), Greg Biffle (second top-5 run of the year).
On the way out: Casey Mears (finished 27th, started 38th), Jamie McMurray (lost fuel-mileage battle, finished 37th).
New Hampshire track fact: Five different car owners - Richard Childress, Rick Hendrick, Roger Penske, Joe Gibbs and Jack Roush - and their drivers (Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, and Kurt Busch) have won the last five races at Loudon.
