SUU women open Mid-Con play Saturday

MID-CON STRUGGLES IN PRESEASON

After preseason games the SUU women start Mid-Con play Saturday against UMKC in Kansas City. Though the T-Birds 3-11 is less than ideal, the rest of the conference hasn't faired much better. Other than Oral Roberts, who enters league play 9-4, the rest of the Mid-Con starts conference play with a losing record.
With a bad losing record.
Minus the Golden Eagles, the Mid-Con's remaining seven teams end their nonconference schedule with a 23-51 record.
To say the least, the conference race should be pretty open.

POINT GUARDS STRUGGLING
After the T-Birds 61-50 loss to San Diego on Tuesday, one stat one impossible to overlook for SUU. The Toreros scored 33 points off turnovers. The T-Birds have struggled all season finding someone to get them in their offense and not turn the ball over since Amy Anderson left the team and Kristina Peterson went down with a knee injury.
Heather Hillock has done an admirable job moving from shooting guard to point and Jana Sorenson, another two-guard, showed potential Tuesday night in her first action at the one, but eight combined turnovers between the two (SUU had 22 overall) is still too many.

Watching the Oral Roberts game closely, in my opinion at times the SUU women play better in a run and gun offense. Pattern offense only works for so long (like seconds) in female BB at ANY level! Let'um run sometimes at least!
