NASCAR stars in their eyes?

Something came across the wires that was a little odd to me as I was working on Friday afternoon. NASCAR CEO Brian France - the big boss man, the big kahuna, chief, etc. - had a little problem with his Lexus on Monday and got into a wreck.
It happens, but what has everyone's ire up is an investigation of possible "special treatment" by the Daytona Beach (Fla.) police department.
You're kidding, right? Nope. I wish I was.

According to accounts, France spilled a Coke in his car and his attention was diverted from the road long enough to cause the wreck.
No field sobriety tests were performed because France didn't smell of alcohol, although officers questioned him for nearly 90 minutes.
One witness, however, said she saw France driving at a "very reckless speed." Her statement wasn't attached to the police report.
Talk about a bonehead play. The Daytona Beach police dropped the ball on this one.
Famous people get into scrapes with the law all the time, both major and minor. When the police omit valuable information from witnesses in their report, it makes you wonder if whoever was involved in talking to France seemed just a little star-struck.
I'm tending to believe France on this one. Here's hoping he'll keep his eyes on the road next time.
